This is a great opportunity to join the Biocides Regulatory Operations Team in CRD at a time of major change. The team supports the regulatory decision and policy making that drives CRD’s delivery of Biocides regulations in the UK.

**Job description**:
The Biocides Regulatory Operations Team works closely with regulatory specialists and scientists, ensuring that HSE’s decision making and approaches to providing active substance approvals and product authorisations are consistent and legally sound.

The team also have an important role in dealing with novel and challenging problems, helping HSE Officials and stakeholders navigate the regulatory framework by providing advice and solutions arising from technical and implementation challenges as a result of regulatory changes.

The team interacts regularly with HSE Policy and Enforcement teams for chemicals, other Government departments and the Devolved Administrations on wide ranging issues relating to biocides and the regulatory framework.

To succeed you will need to develop a thorough understanding of the underpinning policies, regulatory framework, technical and legislative issues.

**Responsibilities**
- Support colleagues in taking regulatory decisions and establishing positions by providing accurate advice on the implementation of the relevant regulations.
- Work with colleagues to ensure decisions are consistent and delivered to the required standards.
- Provide advice on interpretative challenges within the legislation, seeking pragmatic and proportionate solutions and escalating issues as appropriate.
- Draft legal documents and formal stakeholder communications.
- Proactively identify and escalate potential issues affecting the practical operation of the biocides regulatory schemes and help develop handling strategies.
- Develop, review and amend processes required by the legislation to ensure consistent delivery of CRD’s objectives to the required standards and drive efficiency.
- Provide advice and support to stakeholders by responding to enquiries from industry and others, including other government departments, within agreed deadlines and to agreed quality standards.

There will be a requirement to travel to the office for various activities e.g., collaborative working, supporting and training colleagues.

CRD and the Biocides Regulatory Operations Team are predominantly located in Bootle, therefore some additional occasional travel to Bootle and/or York would be required.

Part time working hours are available for this role. We can accept part time applicants who can commit to working a minimum of 22.5 hours per week
