Project Worker

Bristol, United Kingdom Bristol City Council Full time

**Permanent, Part Time 22.5 hours per week.**

A vacancy has arisen for a Project Worker to join the team, delivering high quality direct work with young people.

The Drugs and Young People’s project (DYPP) is a citywide team offering specialist support and interventions with young people affected by their own substance misuse, or the substance misuse of a parent / carer.

We are looking for individuals from a health, education, social work, youth and community work, youth offending or drug and alcohol services background who have experience and skills in developing relationships and working creatively with vulnerable young people and their families.

DYPP is a small but well established and supportive team, comprising a team manager, 4 social workers and two project workers. We are based at Rodbourne Road Family Centre in Horfield, although much of your work with young people will take place in community settings across the city and partial working from home is also encouraged.

As a project worker you will hold a small caseload of young people who already have an allocated social worker or strengthening families team key worker.

You will offer weekly / fortnightly sessions offering high quality, creative, trauma informed interventions to young people affected by their own substance misuse or the substance misuse of parents / carers, to create opportunities for sustainable change and improved safety for the young person. You will also work collaboratively with others in the team to deliver group work and co-work cases.

You will work closely with social workers and other colleagues in a multi-agency context, building effective working relationships and sharing relevant information to promote the young person’s welfare.

You will also provide expertise on behalf of the child in matters relating to substance misuse, offering representation and advocacy in meetings and other professional forums.

**Why Bristol City Council?**

At Bristol City Council, we go that extra mile for our people; we offer a work environment which is fast moving and supportive, giving you the chance to use your skills and develop new ones within a high-profile organisation.
