Advance Project Worker X6

Bristol, Bristol, United Kingdom Bristol City Council Full time

Full Time, Fixed Term until 31/04/24.
**Incredibly Exciting Opportunity

We are looking for a team of skilled and talented Advance Project Workers to work within our new Pathways to Short Breaks Project.

This is a brand new service with a well-resourced ringfenced budget through DfE Short Breaks Innovation Fund, initially until April '24 but with the possibility of extension.

The Pathways to Short Breaks Project
'Pathway to Short Breaks' will support neurodivergent children and young people who find it hard to leave their homes due to an anxiety, often linked to an underlying social communication and interaction need (Autism).

The project is comprised of an engagement team, which this post will lead, and sit within the Bristol Autism Team.

The team will work alongside external partners FACE, Neon Daisy, and Horus Wellbeing to deliver this project, which will be tailored to meet the needs of the child or young person.

The project aims to break cycles of anxiety by supporting the child or young person and to provide a bridging service into our short breaks, to help children and young people access time away from their primary care provider.

The Advance Project Workers will work within the Pathways Engagement Team and will support children, young people and their families by building positive trusting relationships with them and their families.

The engagement work will gradually look to broaden environmental experiences, setting motivating, realistic goals and engaging with the wider community.

This will be achieved through identifying any areas of special interest of the young person that will create new experiences and develop resilience in managing anxiety.

This work will take place alongside parents or family members, to promote sustained change and embed the newly formed habits.

Why Bristol City Council?

At Bristol City Council, we go that extra mile for our people; we offer a work environment which is fast moving and supportive, giving you the chance to use your skills and develop new ones within a high-profile organisation.

For the majority of our roles hybrid working arrangements are available, giving teams the opportunity to work in a way that suits them, balancing service need and individual choice - mixing both home and office working.

Join us and you'll receive an excellent rewards package including flexible working and flexitime, membership of the Local Government Pension scheme, and a generous annual leave allowance.

In addition, you'll be working in a supportive environment where you'll have the chance to make Bristol a better place and contribute to its future.

What we can offer you

We are an exciting and dynamic team, with a range of background and experiences in supporting our children and young people with a social communication and interaction need.

You will have the opportunity to shape the service based on your own needs and experience for example continuing to work a caseload.

We will provide management and clinical supervision.

We are a flexible employer and open to part-time and flexible working requests. We would also be open to this being a secondment.

**For permanent Bristol City Council employees, this post will be a secondment.

For employees who are currently on a fixed term contract with Bristol City Council, the secondment must not extend beyond the end of the fixed term period to ensure there is a substantive post to return to.

If you are currently a casual worker or a member of an employment agency (currently working with Bristol City Council) this post will be a fixed term contract.

If you would like to discus this exciting opportunity further please contact Bill Rigg -
