Purpose of the Job

Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, the Marketing Officer will play a key role in contributing to the Gallery’s overall marketing plans and strategies at a pivotal and exciting time. An integral member of the Communications Department, the post holder will deliver a full range of marketing functions, with a specific focus on the Gallery’s reopening campaign and exhibitions, new brand, generic marketing activities, partnerships, and audience development projects.

Main Duties
- Assist in the development and implementation of marketing campaigns for exhibitions, the permanent Collection and programme including preparation for the Gallery’s major reopening campaign, to attract new and existing audiences to meet visitor and income targets.
- Assist in the roll out of the Gallery’s new brand, including communicating and implementing the vision and values and brand guidelines to colleagues and key stakeholders.
- Assist in the day-to-day management of agency relationships including media buyers, creative agencies, printers and other suppliers to deliver campaigns.
- Brief internal and external designers to create stand out creative for all assets and campaigns.
- Manage advertising schedules, including booking adverts, commissioning creative agencies, updating specs and ensuring sign off to deadlines.
- Review the viability of the Gallery’s print marketing output and on reopening manage either the Gallery's quarterly _What’s On_ guide, working closely with all relevant departments to collate information on exhibitions, displays and events, and liaising with designers and printers, or a digital alternative. Plan a forward strategy for this key marketing tool.
- Review the nature and format of the Gallery map for reopening and then co-ordinate the print and production of a map or digital alternative.
- Together with the Director of Communications & Digital, Senior Marketing Manager and Senior Communications Manager, maximise the audience development potential of the Gallery’s varied programme of exhibitions and events, and create campaigns to attract new audiences.
- Work with other departments to help promote their range of events, activities and projects, and ensure there is a connected and integrated approach to marketing each programme to key audiences.
- Assess and review the Gallery’s current contact databases, manage and build relevant mailing lists.
- Liaise closely with the Senior Marketing Manager and the Development team to ensure that sponsors' requirements are fulfilled - from contributing marketing input into sponsorship proposals to managing day-to-day sponsor marketing needs.
- With the Senior Marketing Manager, build relationships with relevant organisations, groups and promotional partners.
- Work with the Director of Communications & Digital and Senior Marketing Manager on the Gallery’s visitor and market research programme.
- Work with the Senior Marketing Manager to ensure all marketing activity is co-ordinated and fits the department’s main aims and objectives.
- Provide administrative and assist the department as necessary, including raising purchase orders, checking invoices and liaising with Finance team on administration.
- Support the Senior Marketing Manager in evaluating marketing effectiveness, including sharing of campaign performance data to optimise media efficiency and spend.
- Support the Senior Marketing Manager and CRM Manager in the development and operation of the CRM and e-marketing system.
- Work closely with the Digital Communications Manager to manage the website and other digital content.
- Deputise for the Senior Marketing Manager as required
