Safety and Environmental Coordinator

The Department of Zoology is very friendly and welcoming and is also internationally renowned for its exceptional record in teaching and research. We are now looking for a Safety and Environmental Coordinator - a proactive, enthusiastic and versatile individual with a collaborative and hands-on approach to undertake this important role.
The role holder will be part of the departmental safety team and will play a significant hands on role in many activities, processes and systems within the department. They will be a first point of contact for safety-related queries and they will use a pragmatic approach to facilitate safe and compliant research. They will be required to work on site and to interact with a wide range of professional services staff, academics, students and contractors. They will also take the lead on environmental issues which are a high priority in the Department.
The role holder will be excellent communicator, with proven IT and organisational skills. They will have a meticulous attention to detail and be able to make effective decisions on their own and whilst working as part of a wider team. They must also be able to work under pressure and to deal with emergencies calmly.
