**Job Summary**

We are looking for a positive team player to play a key role in ensuring the Charity has the operational environment and processes it needs to support families affected by childhood cancer. The role will sit in the Finance and Operations team with a principal focus on facilities. However, the role will cover a wide range of tasks the department is responsible for and specific projects and processes across the Charity. It is critical therefore the individual is flexible, organised and can think independently. As a direct report to the Head of department, it is also crucial the individual can take ownership and responsibility for the operational infrastructure and facilities of the Charity and, as part of this, supervise and line manage a small number of individuals. This role provides a great opportunity to work with and be a crucial touchpoint with all employees and other key stakeholders of the Charity.

**Principal Responsibilities**
- To take ownership of the facilities of the Charity to help ensure the Charity has the appropriate operational infrastructure and equipment to meet the needs of employees and families we support.
- To play a key part in ensuring that all of our premises, including the Cottage, Square, Waverley House and the Pavilion are maintained to a very high standard.
- To supervise and line manage a small number of individuals supporting with the operational and other responsibilities of the department.

The specific tasks may include but are not limited to the following:

- Management of all day to day office and facilities requirements in order to ensure our workplace and public spaces meet the needs of employees and families we support.
- Liaise with our IT managed service provider and advisers to ensure the Charity has the optimal IT infrastructure and equipment and supporting the Charity on its digital journey.
- Maintain an adequate inventory of equipment and play a key role in the procurement process of key equipment, goods and services as necessary.
- Be the nominated Health and Safety Officer and play a role in monitoring Health and Safety policies and procedures and ensure the necessary facilities checks are performed.
- Ensure good financial value through effective management of utilities and utility suppliers and co-ordination of maintenance contracts.
- Support the management, fulfilment and processing of merchandise.
- Support with donation handling, processing and banking.
- Monitor central inboxes and answer the phone to deal with general queries direct or passing on to an appropriate member of staff.
- Any other duties as and when required to support the Finance and Operations department or any other department within the Charity.

**Required skills**
- Ability to take ownership of situations and independently make decisions and find solutions.
- Organised, reliable and trustworthy.
- Flexible and willing to take on a range of tasks as required by the Charity.
- Experience of managing a small team.
- Competent IT knowledge and skills.
- Experience of working in facilities with responsibility for areas of Health and Safety.
- Highly approachable, outgoing and fund, with a natural ability to maintain excellent working relationships with all Candlelighters staff, local and national organisations, volunteers, fundraisers, patients and their families.

This particular role is not suitable for family members who are currently receiving support from Candlelighters. This is to ensure they are given the best possible care and support without any potential conflict of interest.
