**Principal Recycling Improvement and Engagement Officer**:
**About us**

Tower Hamlets is a dynamic and vibrant place to live, work, learn and play, with diverse and creative communities, award winning parks and a successful world class economy.

In Tower Hamlets delivering environmental improvements is complex because we have:

- One of the highest population densities and fastest growing populations in the country.
- Increasing number of visitors and workers across the borough.
- More than 80 per cent of residential properties are flats.

With growth in housing, people, business and visitors, we are producing more waste that needs to be reduced, reused or recycled.

An interesting, varied and challenging opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated professional to join the Environmental Services Improvement Team on a 1 year fixed term contract as the Principal Recycling Improvement and Engagement Officer (maternity cover).

**About you**

You will be an excellent communicator, and work closely with both internal and external stakeholders developing positive working relationships. You will be highly organised with experience working under pressure and meeting deadlines.

You will be enthusiastic and energetic and have a demonstrated ability to manage people and projects.

A list of the skills and behaviours we are looking for is set out in the Person Specification.

If you believe you meet the requirements and are seeking a new challenge, then we would love to hear from you.

**Benefits**

We recognise the importance of rewarding, supporting and developing our staff and providing a work life balance. For more information visit:

Tower Hamlets vision for our borough is that: people are aspirational, independent and have equal access to opportunities; we are a borough that our residents are proud of and love to live in; and we are a dynamic, outcomes-based council using digital innovation and partnership working to respond to the changing needs of our borough. We want people who aspire to our TOWER values: Together; Open; Willing; Excellent; Respect.

Tower Hamlets has a zero-tolerance approach to, and works to eradicate, all forms of discrimination on the basis of race, sex, disability, age, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marital status, status as a civil partner, gender, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy and maternity and looks to employ a diverse workforce representative of those groups. We recognise that people can also be disadvantaged by their social and economic circumstances, so we will work to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage caused by social class.

We welcome applicants interested in flexible working arrangements and also applicants who live in the borough.
