We have 3 exciting opportunities to join the Upper GI Service on a permanent contract as a Patient Pathway Administrator. We have 2 x full time vacancies and 1 x part time vacancy, however this is negotiable.

As part of the team you will be responsible for the typing of clinical dictations and supporting the patients pathway by carrying out other duties. You will be a conscientious and enthusiastic team player with excellent organisation and communication skills. You will need to be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of confidentiality issues, be well motivated and reliable. You will be able to understand and accurately convey verbal and written information and be able to remain calm under pressure.

You will be responsible for the typing of clinical letters, ensuring accurate and timely turn around of dictation.

You will be a pro-active member of the team, recognising the need to achieve Trust targets and using your initiative to achieve these.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Accurately transcribing from Winscribe digital dictation and Winscribe Speech Recognition digital dictation, outpatient clinic letters and miscellaneous clinical correspondence to a high standard with specified timescales.

Assisting with booking appointments for patients.

Answering incoming phone calls from patients and other departments.

Use judgement and initiative to prioritise the importance/urgency of particular requests within defined guidelines.

Ability to exchange sensitive or contentious information with diplomacy and in a confidential manner.

Liaising with several other departments regarding Appointments and necessary important clinical information to ensure patients are seen on their pathway without delay.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria
- GSCE C or above for English and Maths or similar through vocational trainng

Desirable criteria
- RSA III or evidence of typing experience

Communication & Relationship skills

Essential criteria
- Excellent telephone manner.
- Clearly and accurately record information.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and conscientious approach

Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in a health care environemtn

Essential criteria
- Proven typing or clerical experience. Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel.

Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of medical terminology

**Salary**: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
