Children's Speech and Language Therapy - Assistant Practitioner

Are you passionate about delivering a high quality service to children in Lincolnshire? Are you motivated and dedicated to supporting children with speech, language and communication needs? We are looking to recruit a highly motivated Assistant Practitioner to join our team working with the children accessing support from our Language Outreach and Communication Outreach teams, delivering interventions to support children to establish their method of communication or a functional speech sound system.

Please note a foundation degree in healthcare or education (or equivalent) is essential for this post. Please see person specification for full details.

You will work primarily within our Language Outreach team and Communication Outreach team to deliver extended therapy blocks for children accessing intervention from our specialist teams. Working with some autonomy, you will follow therapy programmes devised by the therapist, adapting and suggesting next steps where appropriate to ensure the child makes progress towards their therapy goals. You will also provide some support to children who require an alternative means of communication.

Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust is in the top 25 per cent of all community trusts for overall staff engagement in the 2021 NHS National Staff Survey.

LCHS recognises the increasing demand for more flexibility in working practices in order to accommodate the personal goals and commitments that employees experience at different stages during their working lives. Flexible working opportunities such as part-time working, compressed hours, job shares, and hybrid working models can help staff to balance their personal and work commitments. Arrangements can be put in place if it can be shown that the needs of the individual can be balanced with those of the service and the impact on other team members, enabling the Trust to recruit and retain skilled staff, raise staff morale, reduce absenteeism and respond to changing service needs more effectively.

Please see attached job description for a full detail of main responsibilities of the Assistant Practitioner role.
