We are recruiting for an Assistant Practitioner Radiography who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

This is a great opportunity to join our multidisciplinary team at Paul Strickland Cancer Centre at Mount Vernon Hospital. The main component of the job will be patient care based within the scanning team, rotating through each of our three modalities (CT, PET/CT, and MRI).

This role requires some teaching and supervisory duties of other radiography assistant staff and will include line management responsibilities after training is provided.

In addition, the role may also include some reception cover and appointment scheduling for the different types of scans carried out in the Centre.

Ensure patients are comfortable in the waiting areas, preparing patients for scans, assisting with changing and dressing.

Accurately recording patient observations and have an understanding of normal parameters e.g. heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation

Carry out manual handling and patient transfers as appropriate, using correct infection control procedures.

Preparing cannulation trays for IV cannulation/IM injection, carrying out these procedures (using aseptic no touch technique, ANTT) once competencies are signed off.

Setting up environment for interventional procedures and assist radiographers/radiologists using sterile procedures.

Undertake role-appropriate training

Supervise, support and train new staff

Communicate effectively any queries, problems, complaints or service issues

Check and amend patient details on the computer system (RIS)
