OR
12.15pm - 4.15pm Mon - Fri, term time only

**SALARY**:Scale 2 Spinal Points 12-15 (£17,580 - £19,156 pro rata)

Actual Salary: £16,730 - £17,056

**LOCATION**:The Springfield Project, Birmingham, B13 9NY

**ACCOUNTABLE TO**:Nursery Manager and the Deputy in her absence.

**Job Purpose**

To be responsible for the education and care of children from 2 - 4 years old. The nursery officer must be approachable, friendly and able to communicate effectively at all times. The nursery will provide high quality childcare and appropriate education within a broadly Christian framework.

The aims and objectives of The Springfield Project are to provide relevant community services, which will create community focus, open to all within an orthodox Christian framework. The Project will cross social and cultural barriers and will seek to network and collaborate with other agencies. It will promote understanding and the common good as an expression of Christian service in support of family relationships.

**Responsibilities**
- To plan and organise appropriate educational activities to meet The Early

Years Foundation Stage and meet the needs of individual children.
- To be sensitive to the needs of all the children in the nursery showing the utmost care and attention.
- To maintain a safe and secure environment for the children.
- To maintain and administer children’s records appropriate to individual children’s stages of development.

- To liaise with parents, promoting effective parent/carers partnership.
- To be familiar with and uphold the policies and procedures of the Project especially those relating to Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities, Data

Protection and Child Protection
- To work within a team and maintain good communications.
- To adhere to the confidentiality policy.
- To attend all staff meetings and Project training days as required.
- To attend relevant and mandatory training courses.
- To maintain appropriate Safeguarding and First Aid Certificate.
- To undertake personal professional development and training as appropriate.

Staff are expected to wear the uniform supplied and to keep their appearance clean and tidy.

The Springfield Project exists to respond to the needs of individuals, therefore many tasks and responsibilities are unpredictable and varied. It is therefore expected that all staff will work in a flexible manner when required, undertaking tasks that have not specifically been covered in their job description.

There is a requirement to obtain and/or process information held on paper or electronic records in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, The General Data Protection

Regulations 2018 and the requirements of Project’s policies. Information must only be held for the specific registered purpose and must not be used or disclosed in any way incompatible with such purpose.

**HEALTH AND SAFETY**

The post holder is expected to work within the statutory and Project’s health and safety requirements.

Qualifications NVQ 3 Children’s Care Learning & Current First Aid

Development or equivalent Certificate
Basic Food Hygiene
Certificate

Experience/Knowledge Work in an appropriate childcare setting.

A comprehensive understanding of child development and the Early
Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.

Good working knowledge of Ofsted standards and requirements.

A working knowledge and demonstrable understanding of child protection and safeguarding issues, including Safeguarding and
Child Protection policies, procedures and systems.

Knowledge and understanding of different social and cultural backgrounds.

Skills/Abilities Able to cope with working in a busy environment and under pressure.

Well organised and self-disciplined.

Work well in a team as independently.

Ability to use own initiative, demonstrate high level of motivation and commitment to the work

Able to relate well to both children and parents from a variety of different social and cultural backgrounds.

Excellent communications skills.

Personal Qualities Have a strong passion, enthusiasm and commitment in caring for and educating young children.

Sympathetic to the Christian ethos of the organisation running the Group.
