We are currently looking for a **AI Airlock Project Support Officer** to join our Innovative Devices Division within the **Healthcare Quality and Access** group**.

This is a **full-time** opportunity, on a **12-month fixed term contract **basis. The role will be based in 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf London, E14 4PU. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.

Government departments and agencies are working towards implementing a minimum 60% attendance in office sites.

We are currently implementing a flexible, hybrid way of working, with a minimum of 4 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role, this can flex up to 8 days a month, with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly. Remote working is potentially available for some specific roles. Please discuss this with the recruiting manager before accepting an appointment.

**Who are we?**

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency enhance and improve the health of millions of people every day through the effective regulation of medicines and medical devices, underpinned by science and research.

This post is based in the Software and AI Team within Innovative Devices Division of Healthcare Quality and Access.

The Software and AI team is responsible for taking all reasonable steps to protect the public health and safeguard the interests of patients by ensuring that software as a medical device (SaMD) meet all appropriate standards of safety and performance and to encourage safe use. The Group does this by providing technical support and advice to the Innovative Devices Regulatory Policy Group; contributes to the review of clinical investigations and compliance activity; and engages with internal and external stakeholders on a range of issues involving software as a medical device. Following the UK exit from the EU, the Software and AI team is now leading on the development of a new regulatory framework for software as a medical device.

The AI-Airlock project is launching the MHRAs regulatory sandbox, a controlled virtual environment to investigate challenging regulatory questions. The project will explore regulatory science concepts and AI technologies that provide challenges to existing medical device regulatory processes.

The successful applicant will act as the primary point of contact and manage the AI-Airlock enquiries, promptly addressing important communications and gathering input from team members as needed. Additionally, they will manage and coordinate a busy diary, ensuring that meetings are appropriately scheduled, and deadlines are met.

To excel in this role, the post holder will prioritise tasks as they arise, demonstrating a strong ability to multitask while maintaining a keen attention to detail. Coordinating correspondence is another essential aspect of their responsibilities, both to support internal and external communications and to ensure that all timescales are met effectively.

The successful applicant will actively support the team in engagement activities to convey key messages and foster a positive working environment. Overall, the post holder is dedicated to contributing to the success and efficiency of the AI-Airlock team and Innovative Devices Division, in all aspects of its operations.

Reporting to the Delivery Lead, the post holder will be responsible for providing efficient, effective, and proactive support to the AI-Airlock Team. This includes organising and preparing meetings and events, ensuring they run smoothly and on schedule.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Providing efficient, effective, and proactive support to The AI Airlock project and management of the Software and AI team. Organising and preparing meetings and events.
- Acting as a point of contact and managing the AI-Airlock communication channels. Identifying important communications that require immediate action, proactively gathering input from team members.
- Managing and co-ordinating a busy diary to ensure meetings are covered appropriately and deadlines are met. Prioritising tasks as they occur and multitasking where necessary with emphasis on attention to detail.
- Co-ordinating correspondence to support internal and external communications to ensure timescales are met. Supporting the team with engagement activities to deliver key messages.
