This is an exciting opportunity to lead in the development of a novel specialist service for the assessment and treatment of cognitive symptoms in individuals with schizophrenia. The postholder will join an internationally renowned clinical research group focused on improving outcomes for individuals with psychotic disorders. The post holder will develop and evaluate the Treating Unmet Needs in Psychiatry team (TUNEUP).

This is an ideal post for a motivated trainee or staff grade with an interest in psychosis and a desire to develop their knowledge of advanced psychopharmacology, and gain exposure to research into novel treatments for psychosis.

The post holder will be under the supervision of Dr Rob McCutcheon. Assessment and management of individuals with psychotic disorders will involve the use of structured assessments and digital tools to provide state of the art, evidence-based care. In addition to playing a central role in the TUNEUP service the post holder will be able to contribute to a range of projects including studies of novel interventions, neuroimaging research, the conducting of meta-analyses, and the analysis of pre-acquired clinical trial data.

The post holder will provide medical input for the TUNEUP service including comprehensive clinical assessment, the production of clinical reports, and the maintenance of clinical databases. Clinical duties will also include overseeing clozapine initiations, initiation of third line treatment options, monitoring of treatment response, and liaising with clinical colleagues.

The post holder will also have the freedom to lead on the development and expansion of the service and to undertake research and analysis of the service’s effectiveness. In addition, depending on their interests the post holder will have the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of clinical research including neuroimaging, meta-analysis, analysis of clinical trial data, and qualitative research.

The Oxford Psychosis Research group is focused on developing and implementing state of the art care for individuals with psychotic disorders.

**We do this by**:
(A) Developing and evaluating novel clinical services where there is unmet need

(B)Undertaking experimental medicine studies to better understand the neurobiology of psychotic disorders, and the mechanism of action of treatments

(C) Performing clinical trials of novel treatments

(D) Synthesising the literature to provide easy to implement evidence based clinical guidance.

The team consists of highly motivated individuals passionate about increasing our understanding of psychotic disorders, and improving outcomes for individuals with psychosis. The post will be ideal for a foundation doctor, core trainee, higher trainee or staff grade with a strong interest in psychosis, psychopharmacology, and clinical research.
