An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to work in our Mental Health Liaison Service. The Arden Mental Health Acute Team (AMHAT) provide a rapid bio-psychosocial assessment and advice service for adults who present to A&E or who are inpatients on medical wards.
The AMHAT team are a trial site for an important research trial that aims to improve support for people with self-harm and/or suicidal ideation presenting in crisis to A&E. The post holder will support the delivery of the Assured (Adapting and evaluating a brief psychological intervention in emergency departments) trial.
We are seeking an adaptable and flexible Assistant Psychologist who wishes to develop their skills within an Urgent Care Setting. The post holder will work alongside the Principal Clinical Psychologist to support the delivery of the trial. This will include screening for eligible patients for the trial and delivering follow up sessions to trial participants in the intervention arm. Training will be provided to fulfil this role.
Assured is in an NIHR funded research project lead by City, University of London, that aims to improve support for people with self-harm and/or suicidal ideation presenting in crisis to A&E. The Assured intervention has been developed with national experts in the prevention of self-harm, people with lived experience, and is the biggest study of its kind to have taken part in liaison psychiatry teams. The Assured intervention involves rapid follow up contacts using a narrative interview; safety plan; solution focused approach and follow-up letters.

Psychology is seen as a valuable resource across our Urgent Care teams, and you will receive robust supervision and line management support, from within Acute Psychological Services, as well as support to develop your career and portfolio of skills. Many of our staff are part-time and work flexibly, and CWPT has recently launched a supportive new flexible working policy. Please note at the site specified car parking is free.
