South Doc Services are looking to recruit a Finance Officer who will report to the Finance Manager and be office based at West Heath Medical Centre, 194-196 West Heath Road, Birmingham, B31 3HB.

This is a full-time role

Title: Finance Officer

Responsible to: Finance Manager

**Job summary**

The post holder is responsible for providing administrative support to the Finance Manager, acting as the first point finance queries from staff and external suppliers and as a focal point of communication between service managers and members of the senior management team.

**Key responsibilities**

1. Carry out administrative processes as instructed, including scanning and filing

2. Carry out checking of timesheets for monthly payroll, maintenance of leave records, staff expenses and mileage claims

3. Carry out checking of sessional staff invoices against rotas and supplier invoices against delivery notes and purchase orders

4. To print timesheets, invoices, and other documents

5. Complete payments via BACS

6. Chase outstanding payments

7. All forms of data entry and record keeping relating to areas of work

8. Complete data analysis as required by the Finance Manager

9. Adhering to finance policies and procedures and confidentiality

10. Handle other telephone, general enquiries and taking messages

11. Follow and adhere to Health and Safety procedures

12. Ensuring work areas are tidy

13. Any other delegated duties considered appropriate for the post

Communication

1. Communicate effectively to deliver excellent customer service to patients, practices and external partners

2. Promote effective teamwork with all staff

3. Provide appropriate communication to identify problems and solutions promptly

1. An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality

**Experience**

1. Previous experience of working in an office environment - **Essential**
2. Previous experience within a finance role - **Essential**
3. Previous experience of working in a similar environment - **Desirable**
4. Experience of Sage Software - **Desirable**

**Qualifications**

1. GCSE English and Maths or equivalent Grade - **Essential**

C or above

2. AAT Qualified or Part-Qualified - **Desirable**

3. RSA II typing/word processing or equivalent - **Desirable**

4. Further finance qualification(s) - **Desirable**

**Skills**

1. Attention to detail when working with figures

2. Proficient in reading and writing English

3.Able to speak and understand fluent English to receive and issue instructions in English and without the risk of misunderstanding

4. Strong organisational skills and ability to maintain complete and accurate record systems

5.Ability to work under own initiative and prioritise workload to meet deadlines

6.Ability to provide excellent customer service

7.Good interpersonal skills

8.Good telephone manner

**Knowledge**

1. Good standard of communication both orally

2. A specific understanding of the confidential nature of the work in hand
