Situated in Zone 5, Sutton is less than 30 minutes by train from central London, and south and south west London are easily accessible by public transport. There are 10 train stations which serve key neighbourhoods within the borough providing direct connections to London Victoria, London Bridge, London Blackfriars and St Pancras International. Sutton also has direct rail connections with Epsom, Dorking, Guildford and Horsham, as well as Wimbledon for an interchange with the London Underground and West Croydon for the London Overground. There’s also an extensive road network which provides close and easy access to the M25 and M23.

**About the Role**

We're looking for someone to create engaging content for our social media and digital channels, and empower team members to do the same.

You will own our digital content strategy and lead the planning, delivery and evaluation of digital content.

You will work with team members to create content for social media and digital channels using static/dynamic imagery, video and copy.

Evaluation will be a key part of your role: we need to see what is working and where we need to improve.

**About Us**

Based in the Council’s Customers, Transformation and Strategy Division, the Communications and Engagement Team is responsible for ensuring the Council speaks with one voice, seeks out and listens to all opinions and concerns of local people, delivers on its commitments and responds honestly.

The team is made up of the following key areas:

- Campaigns
- Marketing
- Internal communications
- Digital communications
- Consultation, engagement and participation
- Media relations
- Leadership Office
- Public affairs

The Digital Communications Officer will lead our social media and digital communications, working with colleagues across all of the above areas to empower them to get the most out of our digital channels.

**About You**

This role requires someone with the proven ability to:

- Empower team members to create effective and engaging content including static/dynamic imagery, video and copy.
- Create effective content across digital channels for a range of audiences.
- Spot and leverage social media trends and opportunities to broaden the reach of content.
- Use audience segmentation and targeting to inform approach.
- Manage and help engage with different social media communities.
- Use their strong understanding of digital tools and techniques to monitor performance, evaluate and drive improvement and engagement.
- Champion accessibility across all digital channels.
- Work proactively and organise a personal workload to meet competing demands and tight deadlines.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships and influence a wide range of people.
- Be politically and tactically astute with an understanding of how to influence key stakeholders.
