This post is based in the Dementia Research Centre (DRC), at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, and will play an integral role in the internationally regarded multi-disciplinary dementia trials team. The post is for a 12 month period in the first instance but is likely to continue.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised person with excellent communication skills to work in the recruitment team to enhance recruitment to trials and other studies at the DRC. As a recruitment coordinator, you will be responsible for supporting an exciting portfolio of trials in disease modifying therapies for Alzheimer’s disease and frontotemporal dementias. You will work alongside the clinical team in clinic to identify potential study participants and discuss research options with them. You will work as part of the trials team to facilitate recruitment, maintaining the research registry, liaising with potential participants and their families to ensure uploading data and consent forms where needed and ensuring patients are appropriately scheduled. You may also participate in consenting and other clinical tasks if appropriate. Recruitment is one of the most challenging aspects of clinical trials and this post is crucial to the continued success of the group.

Facilitate recruitment to clinical trials and other research projects:

- Identify potential participants and attend clinics to discuss research opportunities
- Liaise with clinicians to facilitate onward referral of patients for research involvement
- Discuss research with patients and their families
- Maintain the research participant database
- Prescreen individuals to ensure eligible for a particular tria

Communicate responsively with the DRC and Leonard Wolfson Experimental Neurology Centre trials teams

Support the trials team with consenting process, scheduling and trial visits

Work in the DRC trials team to support the highest standards of trials conduct

The UCL Dementia Research Centre (DRC) is part of the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology and embedded within the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN), an internationally renowned hospital for clinical practice and world-class clinical research in neurosciences. The DRC is closely integrated with the NHS Cognitive Disorders Service run at the NHNN and so well positioned to link clinical practice with research.

The DRC is recognised as one of foremost international centres for the study of Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases. It is highly involved in translational research and is world renowned for expertise in early phase clinical trials investigating the safety and efficacy of potential disease modifying therapies in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. The postholder will be involved in a number of these studies in data management.
