**We have an exciting opportunity for a Welfare Support Officer to join us**
- This is a full-time 12-month fixed term role, offering hybrid working and an attractive salary of between £32,002 - £35,719 per annum.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic **Welfare Support Officer **to join the UK Resettlement Team which is part of RBWM’s Housing department.

**The Role**:

- The Welfare Support Officer will work with vulnerable households including those who have recently acquired refugee status or arrived in the country under one of the UK Resettlement Schemes, resettle into the borough. You should have a good understanding of the support available to assist households including excellent welfare benefits and housing knowledge, homelessness prevention and tenancy sustainment. The ability to signpost to appropriate agencies is key to supporting households with education, employment, substance misuse issues and mental health concerns for example, as is partnership working with key agencies to gain the best outcomes for the households you will be working with.

**Your role will involve**:

- Delivering excellent customer service to vulnerable households whose first language may not be English through telephone or face-to-face.
- Providing expert housing, welfare and benefits advice to vulnerable households.
- Promoting employment opportunities and life in the UK to households recently arrived into the UK.
- Signposting households to support agencies and promote partnership working with relevant statutory and voluntary services.

**What we are looking for**:

- Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of housing duty, homelessness prevention and tenancy sustainment.
- Excellent organisational skills whilst supporting vulnerable households and having to work under pressure.
- Ability to manage difficult situations whilst remaining calm, friendly and professional.
- Experience of working in confidential situations with an understanding of when and how to share sensitive information with customers and relevant agencies.
- Ability to travel to households in and around the borough.
