Fixed Term Contract (18 months)
- Full Time (37 hours per week)

**_ Canterbury (occasional travel to our Medway and Tunbridge Wells campuses)._**
- Hybrid working welcome
- Job Reference Number: REQ04790
- Do you dream of making a difference through your work in a world where everyone belongs?
- Do you love sharing best practice, engaging and equipping others with the knowledge and skills to improve cultural awareness and wellbeing?
- Are you innovative and enjoy designing learning and development initiatives which lead to positive outcomes?
- Do you have experience managing projects or events which have had demonstrable impact on culture growth?
- Do you value building warm connections with people from different backgrounds?
- If the answer is yes to the above, we’d be delighted if you would bring your warmth, skills and values to our Equity and Inclusion team at Canterbury Christ Church University.
Join us to accelerate our work in creating a positive, progressive and inclusive place for all our staff and students.

**The Opportunity**
- We seek a full-time Equity and Inclusion Adviser - a new role in our growing Equity and Inclusion team. This is your chance to make our new institutional Equity and Inclusion Strategy 2024-2027 a vibrant reality and support this exciting early stage of building a truly inclusive learning environment for all.
- This role is both hands-on and strategic. You will get to be creative and contribute ideas towards the big picture, while also doing meaningful work on the ground.
- You will design and lead bespoke staff training sessions and workshops, create and run events and connect with people across the university and in the local community.

**Who are we looking for?**
- As you will be leading and facilitating workshops and training, you’ll need the confidence to stand up in front of a room. Experience of giving presentations and of leading training online and in-person is therefore important. Experience of project management or event management would be valuable too. Evaluation skills are also important so that we can report on the impact of our initiatives to the wider community and evolve our approach proactively.
- We also need a great communicator. On any day, the Equity and Inclusion Advisor might talk with senior university leaders, academics, professional services staff, students and people in the local community. This means the ability to build friendly relationships; working with integrity and supporting others is key and strong communication skills are essential.
- We welcome someone with ideas, creativity, and a collaborative approach, so that when you are creating events (for example celebrating Black History or LGBTQIA+ History across the University), you approach it in an engaging way, working with others and thinking about what difference the event is wanting to make for the community.
- We also need a team player who will support their immediate colleagues, who is proactive, project-disciplined, a solution-finder and importantly a critical friend, - your voice and opinions will be heard.
- Finally, it would be great if you have worked in equity and inclusion before, but what matters most is that you align with our values and care about the work we do. Broad knowledge of diversity and inclusion issues would be a real strength, however a deep-rooted passion to help others, plus a drive to amplify the voices of underrepresented and hidden communities via championing diversity is a must. You will be fully supported as an integral member of the wider Inclusion, Development and Wellbeing team with a comprehensive induction plan. We are excited to welcome a new colleague to our supportive, creative and friendly team.

**Working at Canterbury Christ Church University**
- “You can thrive at your job here because you are given that trust. It is empowering. My manager puts people, their health and their family first. There is a great focus on wellbeing in our team”.
- That is what a colleague in our Inclusion, Development and Wellbeing team said about working here - and this will be the team you join Working at Canterbury Christ Church University offers a supportive working environment, friendly colleagues, flexible working, occupational pension scheme and use of facilities like the fitness centre and library. Perhaps the biggest attraction though is the opportunity to make a real difference, in a place where people are passionate about transforming lives, creating knowledge, enriching communities and building sustainable futures.
- Our main campus sits in the world-famous Cathedral city of Canterbury and is a stunning mix of hi
