Support Worker for a Teenage Girl P/t@ £11.91/hr

**We are currently looking for a Support Worker to provide support for a young adult to access the local community and spend time doing things she enjoys.
This young person is friendly and has a bubbly and outgoing personality. She is very independent and enjoys various activities however she does require guidance and support to take part. Sometimes it can be difficult to communicate with her however the more you get to know her you will come to understand her ways of communicating with you.
She has a fear of animals especially cats and dogs so you would need to be aware of this when out and about as if she sees a dog or a cat she does not respond well and often will want to walk in the opposite direction.
The young person enjoys activities such as swimming and bowling and she loves grocery shopping. She also enjoys having her nails done.
Your main role will be to support with accessing activities of her choosing and ensuring her safety. She can get tired quickly so you will need to be aware of when she is ready to finish the activity.
**We are looking for our support worker to be able to work weekends in the mornings, 3 hours per day, possibly 9-12 however this can be discussed at interview.**
- You should also be a car driver with own transport due to the nature of the role, fuel costs will be reimbursed.
You should be confident and able to work on your own initiative. We would also like our worker to be able to suggest activities to do out in the community so you should be willing to be proactive in finding various activities to take part in.
**Hours: 3 hours per week**
- Role Responsibilities:
- To provide an enabling to support to access the community and engage in meaningful local activities.
- To understand the need for sensory stimulation and to distract when this becomes increased or challenging.
- To understand non-verbal communication and the need to develop a relationship with the young person to understand behaviours and needs.
- To understand moving and handling techniques required to the young person, however, no lifting is required.
- You will be required to always ensure the safety of this young person.
- Ensure that you take reasonable care for your own safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work.
- Using your own car will be required during this employment; it must be insured for business use.
- You Must:
- Have a positive understanding towards children with disabilities.
- Have a high degree of initiative
- Be punctual and reliable as the young person cannot be left unsupervised.
- Be flexible
- Have a happy positive caring nature.
- Respect Confidentiality.
**Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) disclosure - will be required, cost to be met by employer.**
