Senior Design Engineer

Our client a design lead manufacturer, with product development at the core of their business is looking to recruit a Senior Design Engineer to be responsible for the design and introduction of new product.
The Senior Design Engineer responsibilities will include:
- To liaise with Product Designer to convert sketch work and concepts into 3D models ready for quotation, Design Reviews and prototyping requirements.
- Proficient in use of Solid Edge/Solidworks 3D CAD system for development of ground up designs for Architectural and Commercial lighting including sheet metal, plastic injection mouldings and aluminium extrusions and die casting.
- To produce and revision control 2D drawings as and when required during development process and ongoing production.
- To prepare information for quotation to be sent out to existing and new suppliers on new products or existing product re-designs.
- To approve parts based on 2D drawings and store evidence in ERP system and liaising with suppliers on corrective actions as required.
- To ensure New Product Process is followed and relevant updates are added to the NPI tracking system.
- To review current product designs as and when required and liaise with other departments to ensure any improvements are implemented in a timely manner.
- To complete Product Introductions with existing factory staff to ensure they are fully trained on all relevant new products.
- To guide and train Design Engineers and Junior Design Engineers on company design philosophy and process of New Product Design.
- To be able to build and assembly prototype / mockup designs on new products.
- To advise on staff recruitment as and when required and participate in interviews as necessary.
**Experience**:
- Experienced in the use of SolidEdge or SolidWorks (and currently using)
- A practical and methodical approach to design using an iterative development cycle of prototyping and testing
- Must have 'hands on' experience and a good understanding of general engineering practices
- Ability to communicate your ideas to others within your team and across the business
- Ability to plan, priorities and co-ordinate your own time
- Take ownership of projects you are involved in
- Good working knowledge of proprietary PC software, e.g. MS Word / Excel etc
