ROLE SUMMARY

The post holder will provide evidence based psychological interventions to clients who have a range of longstanding and complex difficulties.
- The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.
- There is considerable demand for the service and the High Intensity Psychotherapeutic Counsellors to work autonomously, managing their own caseloads which means the working environment is frequently pressurised.
- To provide brief therapy interventions and health education in primary care settings.
- To sign post clients to other service providers when appropriate.
- To communicate at all levels with health care professionals in primary and secondary care and provide training and guidance as required.
- To undertake assessment of risk and take appropriate steps to manage accordingly.
- To attend case conferences when requested to do so

CLINICAL
1. Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service
2. Assess clients for suitability for psychological therapies.
3. Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the department’s referral protocols, and refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary.
4. Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for clients.
5. Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary, conveying psychological formulations with sensitivity in easily understood language.
6. Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of client contacts offered and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.
7. Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.
8. Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service.
9. Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols
10. Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach.
11. Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process

Therapy For You is an IAPT primary care therapy service based in NE and SE Essex working from our own premises, GP surgeries and community settings. We deliver a range of services including self-help psycho educational courses, therapy groups, online/digital therapeutic services and individual therapies including Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT). The service works with adults presenting with mild, moderate and severe anxiety and depression.

The successful applicant will be skilled and experienced in dealing with assessment and treatment provision for clients, highly motivated with the ability to organise and prioritise their own workload and have completed an approved IAPT compliant training.

We are committed to providing an out of hours service to the community and this involves working some evenings or Saturdays, typically 6-9pm or 9am-1pm respectively. A blended work pattern of both in person and remote working will be considered. Further information available from both job description and person specification.
