**We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Cardiology Directorate working within the Clinical Audit Department.**

Your main activities will centre on supporting the delivery of a high quality, timely and accurate Northern Care alliance Clinical Audit Service.

In order to meet this challenging role you will need a good understanding of the clinical governance initiatives within the NHS. Your main duties will involve supporting a broad portfolio of clinical audit and other quality improvement projects, providing support to healthcare professionals in the undertaking of clinical audit and quality improvement projects.

You will be educated to ‘A’ level standard or equivalent with knowledge of clinical coding, information technology and analysis with an understanding of clinical governance, acquired through training and experience to A level equivalent.

**Main duties of the job**:
You will be required to have good all round numeracy skills, to be able to review data sets for data collection, data validation and data completeness purposes. Have the ability to solve problems and support the clinical teams in data collection for the purpose of undertaking audit and quality improvement programmes.

You will require good written communication skills to produce reports for dissemination across the organisation. In addition, you will be required to have good verbal communication skills to support the presentation if audit findings. You will need to have the ability to work within a team environment and have good interpersonal skills to liaise with healthcare professional at all levels across the Alliance.

You will be required to co-ordinate your workload including prioritisation to meet key deadlines throughout the year. Be able to work on your own initiative without close supervision this includes identifying potential demands on the service in addition to being flexible and able to adapt to the needs of the service.

**Detailed job description and main responsibilities**:
To work as part of the Cardiology Team to provide an effective support service for Governance activity in accordance with the National Agenda, the Clinical Audit Framework and the Clinical Governance agenda. This will be achieved through a range of methods through the collection, collation and presentation of data from a variety of sources.

The post holder is expected to provide day to day secretarial and administrative services employing advanced audio typing skills with the use of medical terminology. The post holder will assist in the organisation of the consultant’s workload becoming closely involved in all aspects of the Nurse Consultant’s role liaising with professional bodies where medical staff have additional roles and special interests. This post will work closely with the existing service PAs and secretaries.

- The post holder is expected to use their own initiative in all areas, providing an efficient and effective PA service to the Nurse Consultant in Cardiology and lead Heart Failure Nurse
- To provide guidance in planning and implementing the delivery of the National, regional and Alliance agenda staff at all levels throughout the Directorate.
- To undertake governance activity where required including production and dissemination of data in a variety of reporting methods.
- To retrieve raw data from a variety of sources, including medical records and hospital information systems for the purpose of data analysis, reporting and presentation at national, regional and Alliance level.
- To maintain current data systems to ensure that data collection is accurate, timely and complete and support the development of new systems.
