Job description

The Dickson Poon School of Law is looking to recruit a Senior Technology Enhanced Learning Officer. The post holder will provide first line and some second line support for all the learning technologies that the School utilises. The role holder will report to the Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) manager and be a part of the Digital Education team within the School and the wider TEL community within King’s, they will work in close partnership with Programme and Module Leads, Senior/Programme Officers and the wider Academic and Professional Services colleagues across the School.

This role will:

- Provide advice and guidance to academic and professional services colleagues on the best use of Moodle VLE (known as KEATS) to support e-learning activities as well as on the effective use of digital technology to enhance of the quality of teaching, learning and assessments and thereby improve the student experience.
- Assist in the design, development and delivery of workshops/training and deliver ad-hoc support in effective TEL practices.
- Work effectively with academic and professional services colleagues in the School and across King’s to ensure effective communications and drive improvements.
- Draw upon and contribute to the development of understanding and practice in the field of technology-enhanced learning as a King’s-wide endeavour.
- Work autonomously as well as cooperatively with others and be able to inspire and interact with a cross-section of staff and students to increase the adoption of technology-enhanced learning. A positive, personable and problem-solving approach is essential, as is the ability to show initiative and adaptability.

This post will be offered on an indefinite contract.

This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent

Key responsibilities
- Provide desk-side support, guidance, demonstrations and training on the best use of KEATS and other associated e-learning software/technologies.
- Contribute to the design, development and delivery of e-learning materials/workshops.
- Work closely with academic and professional services colleagues to help embed learning technologies to support teaching, learning and assessment activities.
- Support the coordination of Faculty TEL processes including annual module rollover processes, liaising with local and central professional service colleagues (IT, CTEL and Library Services).
- Routinely communicate TEL activities, projects and service status to stakeholders via face-to-face and online means.
- Actively liaises with other TEL staff across the University enabling exchange of ideas and experience including the design and implementation of new systems and increased efficiency.
- Provide administrative support for ensuring online reading lists are complete, working with Library Services, Module leads and TEL team members.
- Remain abreast of latest technological developments, including hardware/software that may be useful for a particular project or across a number of projects.
- The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post._

Skills, knowledge, and experience

Essential criteria

1. Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.

2. Experience of working with a Moodle-based environment or equivalent VLE.

3. Experience of using video conferencing software in the delivery of teaching and learning resources (e.g. MS Teams, Kaltura, Echo 360)

4. Experience of facilitating face-to-face/online training for staff and producing learning/training materials for different audiences.

5. Excellent time management and organisational skills and the ability to work to

tight deadlines.

6. Excellent communication and presentation skills including to ability to draft documents and correspondence, lead and contribute to meetings with a range of stakeholders.

7. The ability to work independently and proactively.

8. The ability to work to a high level of accuracy, with meticulous attention to detail.

9. The ability to quickly learn how to use new software/functionality.

10. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Desirable criteria

1. Experience of filming videos and using video editing software

2. Experience of working in Higher Education.

3. Experience of EDI and accessibility.

4. Good understanding of HTML, CSS and Java Script.
