As an Associate in our Sustainability team you will work with multi-discipline teams to deliver solutions that help our clients operate in a more sustainable manner. It is important that we maintain the highest level of technical excellence and regulatory compliance, and HDR will support you to continue to develop your skills.

You will have the opportunity to lead projects, tasks, help mentor junior colleagues and contribute to the management and growth of our team and skill sets. You will work closely with team leaders and directors. We have a wide range of projects in various sectors including health, tech/media/telecoms (and datacentres), commercial/corporate offices, finance, education, hotels & leisure, industrial and mixed-use.

**_Our services are varied but include:_**
- Supporting the sustainable design, construction, or refurbishment of buildings (including relevant rating systems such as BREEAM, LEED and WELL)
- Environmental and GHG Permitting (including UK ETS and EU ETS)
- Development of Environmental & Energy Management Systems (ISO14001/ISO50001)
- Verification of Corporate Sustainability Reporting (including SECR)
- Net Zero Carbon strategies
- Energy and Resource efficiency assessments (including ESOS compliance)

**Primary Responsibilities**
- Identify and analyse problems and opportunities, to develop and deliver effective sustainability solutions for our clients.
- Support Directors by establishing client briefs / scope of works, identifying technical requirements, and agreeing fee levels and resources.
- Maintain excellent client and team relationships to achieve high levels of satisfaction and repeat business. This includes monitoring of resources and forecasts to maintain quality of delivery and profitability.
- Maintain a commitment to your personal training and CPD, with the goal of becoming a leader in your field. The role offers potential for further career progression.
- Prepare and agree project duties with the relevant Project Manager(s) and Office Principal / Team Leaders
- Manage tasks in accordance with QA systems and company procedures on all projects (our systems are certified to ISO9001 and ISO14001).
- With a keen eye for detail, you will be conversant with a broad range of sustainability issues and be comfortable working as part of a multi-discipline team.
- Provide support to team leaders, and junior colleagues as required. As an Associate you will contribute to the ongoing development of our team, by providing mentoring, training, and technical advice to colleagues.

**Required Qualifications**
- MSc and/or BSc in a relevant discipline (e.g., energy / environmental / engineering / scientific), OR equivalent experience
- Personable and a ‘can do’ attitude. Able to establish rapport and good working relationships within the project team and Clients
- To be able to work as part as a team and collaboratively and co-operatively
- A sound understanding of environmental and sustainability principles, and the ability to describe them to others and make the case for action
- Knowledge of environmental legislation, particularly in Europe / the UK, and how to audit and assess compliance
- Excellent communication skills - able to correspond effectively with clients, sub-contractors, and colleagues in design teams and other consultancies.
- Professionalism and integrity
- The ability to research, collect, analyse and present information in a concise and effective form (e.g. drafting reports, or calculating carbon emissions following documented protocols)
- Competency in key business tools (e.g. MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Browsers and Search Engines)

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Good experience, ideally >7 years is typical for an Associate position. Experience in consultancy is preferred but not essential.- Appropriate professi
