People Participation is well established within ELFT and each Directorate within ELFT has a People Participation Lead.

The Forensic People Participation Worker postholder will support the work of the Forensic People Participation Lead,. The post holder will support a variety of work streams that underpin the needs of service users and carers in Forensics, ensuring that this is coordinated ,and supports the Trusts corporate social inclusion strategies.

They will work alongside partner organisations such as local authorities, community organisations as well as other services in the North London Forensic Collaborative to promote improved outcomes for service users and improve service user and carer experience.

They will provide support, and advice and support project work across the Directorate to support the development of a culture that is socially inclusive, values participation and diversity.

They will support and maintain effective communication and contribute to the training needs of service users and carers. The post holder will develop relationships with the above and be able to feedback effectively via forums, meetings and report writing.

They will, as and when necessary, attend meetings/committees at local and corporate level to represent the People Participation Team.

To support the People Participation Lead in contributing and regularly reporting on specific issues from service user and carers and progress against the agreed People Participation programme plan and Trust 5 Year Integrated Business plan.

To support the PPL in developing and maintaining a pool of service users and carers with relevant lived experience in Forensics

To work with service users, carers and staff to ensure a high quality, consistent service is offered across all of the services.

To work alongside carers and carer support groups.

To support the collection of service user feedback, audit and feedback

To challenge poor practices and offer viable innovative alternatives

To promote membership opportunities to service users and carers, and support their involvement in membership activity

To build effective, non-coercive relationships with local service users, carers, families and community groups and to develop a positive beneficial channel of two-way communication

Prepare, support and on occasion accompany service users and carers to enable them to be meaningfully involved in Trust business

Support the development of project plans to further develop service user and public involvement within the relevant services

To provide regular advice signposting and support to service users and their carers / families in relation to service user and public involvement opportunities

Plan, organise, coordinate and support meetings, workshop events
