**Marketing & Communications Officer**

**Hours **:22.5 to 30 hours per week, with flexibility over pattern of hours

**Location **:Lewes area, East Sussex. We offer flexible working and are happy for you to work remotely for up to half of your weekly hours (we hold face to face, full team meetings in the office every week, currently on a Tuesday).

**Reporting to **:Chief Executive

Our vision is for numbers and data to be communicated to consumers in a way that is clear, fair and never misleading.

**Overview of Main Duties **:This is an exciting opportunity to play a crucial role in the growth ofPlain Numbers in the following areas:
Supporting Partner Communications:

- Work with our Head of Partnerships & Services to support relationships with external communications, marketing and PR teams within our Partners (typically large, market leading firms across a range of sectors including financial services and utilities).
- Working to understand our Partners’ external communication goals around their Plain Numbers work, making plans for reaching and exceeding these.
- Supporting Partners in drafting press releases.
- Creating social media content for Partners, Practitioners and other key stakeholders.

Building brand recognition:

- Work collaboratively with our Co-Founders to build Plain Numbers’ brand recognition among the public.
- Develop creative ideas to reach larger numbers of consumers.
- Create opportunities with broadcast, print and digital journalists.
- Building and managing relationships with media contacts.

Social media and digital communications:

- Work with the wider team on the development of our social media and digital marketing strategy for the coming years.
- Lead on the implementation of this strategy.
- Day to day running of our Twitter and LinkedIn accounts
- Work to grow our following and increase our reach to the public.

Website:

- Lead on the maintenance and continuous improvement of our website.
- Develop and implement an SEO strategy.
- Create new web content such as blogs/news articles.

**Person Specification **:You will be:

- An experienced marketing & communications professional who is passionate about driving positive change for consumers.
- A “people orientated” person who is able to build strong relationships with key stakeholders within Partner firms and with colleagues in the growing Plain Numbers team.
- A highly motivated individual, able to work effectively alone, but also keen to become an active part of the Plain Numbers team.
- Comfortable connecting and building professional relationships with journalists and communications leads in Partner firms.
- Adaptable, and able to participate actively in a wide range of business functions.
- Willing to learn and develop as the organisation grows, striving for continuous improvements in everything we do.
- A strong believer in, and advocate of, the Plain Numbers mission to enable firms to communicate numbers and data in a more human way so that more of their customers understand, and thereby make informed choices.

**Essential Skills and Experience**:

- Experience in Marketing & Communications roles.
- Ability to identify, explore and exploit, opportunities for media coverage to build brand recognition.
- Outstanding written communication skills to serve traditional media, social media and the web.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, building and maintaining effective relationships across our small yet growing organisation, and with external stakeholders.
- Ability to work within tight timescales, be highly organised and able to proactively maintain high standards of administration.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to create high quality content at all times.
- Creativity to develop and deliver impactful messaging.

**Desirable Skills and Experience**:

- Experience of working within smaller, growing organisations.
- Experience of dealing with journalists.
- Experience of both business-to-business and business-to
- consumer marketing and communications.
- Experience of, and willingness to use, a wide range of digital tools and solutions.
- Experience or knowledge of SEO management.
