Summary about the Service
- The Children’s Autism Assessment Service provides diagnostic autism assessments of children and young people aged 3-17 years.
- The Autism Assessment service is delivered across schools and clinics across our area, for children and young people living in Bristol, North Somerset & South Gloucestershire (BNSSG).
- To provide a specialist diagnostic autism assessment for children and young people on the Autism assessment waiting list, through information gathering and analysis and direct observation and assessment.
- To share clear, timely and appropriate feedback to schools, families and children and young people about the outcome of the assessment, both verbally and in written reports.
- Autism assessments will take place primarily in school settings, but some clinical appointments may be offered in clinics and health hubs.
- To identify when further assessment is required in order to complete the child or young person’s assessment
- To work in a small clinical team, seeking supervision and engaging in liaison with other agencies (e.g. education, social services) and professional groups as required
