**How you'll make a difference**:
You will make a difference by helping to improve the provision of services that are commissioned by the Council by leading on the procurement of the Youth Activities Offer, things to do and places to go for young people aged 13 or over.

The Children and Young People’s Commissioning team have specific responsibility for the procurement of services, including those for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and our early help and preventative services.

**What will you be doing?**
- You will be working with colleagues across the Council to put in place a variety of early help programmes and preventative projects to support to children, young people and their families. This includes open access youth provision, parenting programmes and services for Children in Care or on the edge of care.
- You will be working with providers who are commissioned by the Council to provide those services, identifying opportunities for improvement and ensure that they are meeting quality and budget requirements.
- You will be planning new services, programmes and projects together with colleagues across Children’s social care, partners and the young people that use our services.
- You will contribute as part of the team procuring services and setting up new contracts, working to the Council’s contracting rules.
- You’ll be required to monitor contracts to ensure that services are being delivered well and that they are meeting the targets agreed, including on price.
- You will be looking at how commissioned services and contracts can deliver positive outcomes for children, young people and their families. Many of our current contracts will help deliver against the national Supporting Families outcome programme.

**What we need from you**:

- You will have relevant knowledge and experience of working in an organisation that commissions and contracts in social care or similar services and able to demonstrate a flexible approach to working across different areas.
- You will need excellent interpersonal skills to establish a positive relationship with a wide variety of stakeholders’ contacts and customers.
- You will have demonstrable experience of meeting service standards, targets and deadlines, be well organised with excellent time management skills and able to manage competing demands.
- Desirably, you’ll have a degree or professional qualification in social care, health care or business studies
