- As an Assistant Community Ranger you will assist the Thames Beat Team in the day to day management of Jeskyns Community Woodland and provide a regular Ranger presence on site and encourage and support active community involvement through consultation, events and activities, practical projects and environmental education.**Job description**:
Key Work Areas:

- Site presence: Act as the face of Forestry England on site, providing a regular visible site presence and taking every opportunity to engage with members of the public whilst on site. You will be answering queries and following up feedback, keeping the Community Ranger aware of comments and actions.
- Site Maintenance and Management: Ensure site facilities are well maintained and safe through regular documented inspections and carrying out practical repairs and maintenance tasks. Ensure sites are well presented, undertaking site litter picking as required.
- Delivery of a Community Engagement Programme: Actively engage with a diverse range of individuals and groups in the local community by delivering and assisting with a programme of events and activities agreed with the Community Ranger.

Essential:

- Experience of working in a public facing role.

Desirable:

- Experience of supporting and developing community and volunteer groups.
- Experience of working on environmental projects and/or conservation work.
- Experience of making presentations, leading walks and organising events.
- Experience of working with disadvantaged communities.

**Professional and Technical Expertise**:
Essential:

- Competent IT user with experience of MS office packages and the web.

Desirable:

- Relevant qualification in community development or countryside management or significant work experience in these areas.

This role is part-time 22.2 hours per week.

You will be questioned on your experience and the listed behaviours at interview. There will also be a short practical assessment.
