People Participation Worker for Older Adults

London, United Kingdom East London NHS Foundation Trust Full time

People Participation is well established within the trust - it is one of our organisational treasures we wish to expand. The focus of this role is on the need to bring strong leadership around the participation of older adults (aged 65+) who use ELFT mental health services, and carers, in all aspects of both the planning and delivery of mental health services.

Please note that it is an occupational requirement of this post to have lived experience as a mental health service user or carer.

This post holder will work strategically with community mental health teams for older adults across the boroughs of City & Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets in order to develop and implement a strategy that encourages and supports the participation of older adults within a variety of work streams.

This role will involve working with a wide range of stakeholders within East London, including the third sector, to promote improved outcomes for older adult service users, and improve service user and carer experience through new insights and perspectives, promoting advocacy and the voice of the service user/carer throughout services.

Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive - so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.

The post holder will encourage and support the participation of older adults in all aspects of both the planning and delivery of mental health services across East London. They will provide support, advice and practical project work across the relevant services in East London in the development of a culture that is socially inclusive, diverse and values co-production, supporting and maintaining effective communication, and contributing to the training needs of staff in this aspect of their work. The post holder will ensure that practice in each borough is co-ordinated and supports and responds to the Trust’s corporate social inclusion strategies.
