**Purpose of the Job**:
This is a new role advertised initially on a fixed term, 12-month contract.

We are seeking a Pastoral Support Leader to join our team to support our goal of providing an exceptional holistic education for students who have a vision impairment or are blind within our residential and day placement college of excellence.

The Pastoral Support Leader will support this ambition through the provision of pastoral support to our students in order to enable them to flourish.

We are seeking a Pastoral Support Lead to join our dedicated team to support our goal of providing an exceptional holistic education, for students who are blind or vision impaired, within our residential and day placement College of excellence.

This exciting new role - initially on a fixed 12-month contract - is to provide pastoral support for students who are blind or vision impaired. **Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Promote and safeguard the welfare of students in accordance with College policies.
- Support the Assistant Principal: Personal Development in ensuring the highest standards of conduct and character across the College.
- Actively liaise with all specialist support available to provide appropriate provision for students with different learning and/or behavioural needs.
- Communicate effectively across the education and residential provisions and particularly, with parents, carers and families.
- Support and devise strategies to promote maximum attendance and punctuality through work with tutors, the attendance team, external support agencies and parents and carers.
- Lead the on-call support, out of lesson provision and rotas.
- Work alongside colleagues within the College to support students where additional adaptations are required.
- Maintain high expectations of all students.
- Support the successful supervision of the out of lesson provision including break and lunch time duties and club provision.
- Provide inclusion support to others in relation to all areas of SEND.
- Maintain regular contact with families, in particular, the Parent Network and Parent Forum.
- Liaise with all stakeholders across the college to support students to make excellent personal progress.
- To work closely with staff to ensure that any pupils who are removed from lessons are well supported to avoid further occurrences.
- Support students through key points of transition (options, KS4, external exams, post 16 etc).
- Support the work of the Assistant Principal: Personal Development to ensure that all students participate fully in the life of the school.
- Effectively support Form Tutors and the Heads of Key Stage and others with delivery of PSHE topics.
- Support pupils, staff and families upon reintegrating from any fixed term exclusions.
- Ensure that both pastoral interventions and celebrations are organised, implemented and successful.
- Support the student leadership programmes across the College.
- Work closely with the Assistant Principal: Personal Development and Heads of Key Stage to drive the school values and priorities.
- Effectively support a whole school approach to positive mental wellbeing.
- Demonstrate relentless positivity and ambition for all students.
- Be a committed, highly competent, energised and reflective individual.
- Support Parents’ Evenings and other school events.
- Contribute to and take an active part in CPD
- Maintain the highest standards of professional conduct and act as a role model to young people.
- Undertake such other duties and responsibilities as may be reasonably requested by the principal, in accordance with the relevant Pay and Conditions Document.
