This post will be responsible for undertaking literature searches and training to support trust-wide staff in pursuit of patient care, research and CPD. This will include ensuring that sessions are evaluated and accurately recorded and completing impact interviews on aspects of service provision. Outreach to teams both in person and virtually will be part of this with emphasis on building relationships with quality improvement, research and innovation and management colleagues.

You should be a confident and skilled communicator able to engage all types of staff and all levels and receive positive feedback.

You will also need to carry out general library duties as required including dealing with enquiries from library users, maintaining in the library inbox, and obtaining items from other services using established systems.

This post is key to delivering a literature search service using both the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub and specific native interfaces such as those produced by EBSCO, OVID and Proquest. Using the same resources you will train colleagues in searching for evidence to support patient care, research, service improvement and their own CPD. You will also provide support for assignments, critical appraisal and reflective writing.

You will be a knowledgeable and experienced searcher who is confident using a variety of NHS and other resources to produce accurate and timely information for colleagues, often meeting tight deadlines.

You will be a team player, supporting other library team members and making suggestions regarding service provision and improvement.

Use of general library services

Critical appraisal skills
- To be responsible for the effective promotion and marketing of the training both within the libraries and Trust wide, using a variety of methods to ensure that all Trust staff have access to the information.
- To work with other Library Trainers through the Regional Library Trainers' Forum to set out and implement training programmes and work on related projects.
- To continually evaluate the training using a variety of methods and modify courses accordingly.
- Work in close collaboration with the Trust's Education and Training department to ensure that training courses are integrated within the Trust's education and training programme.
- To be responsible for the development and production of appropriate training materials in hard copy and online formats and other support material for the training cou ses such as trainers' notes, evaluation forms and accreditation certificates.
- Teach staff effective literature searching and critical appraisal skills to improve the level of use of evidence based practice within the Trust.
- Support the literature search service by regularly performing complex literature searches
- Lead the library session in relevant Trust inductions such as the regular junior doctor and student nurse inductions.
- Teach staff effective Internet/Intranet searching skills

Prepare questionnaires / feedback forms for evaluation purposes
- To collate monthly training statistics and work closely with the Library Services Manager to prepare and deliver progress reports to the Trust on a regular basis.
- To contribute to our current awareness service, using KnowledgeShare to categorise members according to their professional interests and ensure that they receive regular updates.
