Job Title: Food and Beverage Assistant for Breakfast and lunch
Location: The Manor House Hotel, West Auckland, County Durham, DL14 9HW
Hours of work - (shift work/weekend work) Monday to Sunday on Shift Rota Basis
Responsible To: All Manager and Duty Manager
Relationships:
Responsible For: Restaurant \Hotel Breakfast and Lunch
Summary of Role:
You must ensure all guests receive a warm, memorable and personalized welcome to the Manor House Hotel setting the scene for their stay. Take orders and serve food and beverages to customers in the hotel lounge, restaurant, bars and function rooms. To ensure the guests needs are anticipated any requests are actioned. To complete any tasks and duties handed over from the Managers or Duty
Managers have been accurately and fully completed within given deadlines.
**Main Responsibilities and Duties**:
Our Service
Check with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
Collect payments from customers.
Write food orders on order slips, memorize orders, or enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff.
Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes.
Take orders from customers for food or beverages.
Check customers identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for
1. consumption of alcoholic beverages.
Serve food or beverages to customers, and prepare or serve specialty dishes at tables as required.
Present menus to customers and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request.
Clean tables or counters after customers have finished dining.
Prepare hot, cold, and mixed drinks for patrons, and chill bottles of wine.
Roll silverware, set up food stations or set up dining areas to prepare for the next shift or for large parties.
Inform customers of daily specials.
Stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens.
Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods.
Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware.
Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters, take them to kitchen for cleaning.
Assist host or hostess by answering phones to take reservations or to-go orders, and by greeting, seating, and thanking guests.
Perform cleaning duties, such as sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming carpet, tidying up server station, taking out trash, or checking and cleaning bathroom.
Bring wine selections to tables with appropriate glasses, and pour the wines for customers.
Perform food preparation duties such as preparing salads, appetizers, and cold dishes, portioning desserts, and brewing coffee.
Escort customers to their tables.
Garnish and decorate dishes in preparation for serving.
Fill salt, pepper, sugar, cream, condiment, and napkin containers.
Describe and recommend wines to customers.
Provide guests with information about local areas, including giving directions
Attend relevant meetings and courses that are required of you during the day to ensure a smooth running hotel.

Be fully aware and adhere to all accounting polices and procedures.
Ensure the accuracy of guest bills.

Be competent in guest show rounds of the hotel facilities, conference and private dining rooms.
Be responsible for all newspaper orders, alarm calls and pre planning for busy periods and order in advance.
Report any faulty equipment to the relevant person.
Clean and maintain the work area, materials and equipment.

Report for duty punctually in the correct uniform, paying attention to personal hygiene and tidiness. ensuring that personal appearance meets and exceeds company guidelines at all times.
Help and maintain a good working environment within the department and good working relationship with all other departments in the hotel.
To give assistance to other departments as and when necessary.
Carry out other reasonable requests made by all hotel management personnel.
Accept reasonable changes or additions in working hours, which are necessary for the maintenance of uninterrupted service to hotel guests and patrons.
Health & Safety
Report all potential and real hazards immediately.
Be fully confident with all departmental fire and emergency procedures.
Attend all fire, health and safety training as required.

Have a general awareness of health and safety in relation to all tasks and activities undertaken in the department.
Re-use and recycle where possible.
