**About Hempsons**
**With 250 staff and lawyers working across our five offices nationwide, Hempsons is a leading law firm for the health and social care, charity and social enterprise sectors. We help clients overcome a constantly evolving list of challenges. Our aim is to provide outstanding legal services that deliver the best possible client outcomes whilst nurturing a culture that makes us a “great place to work”.
**The role**
**This is an exciting time to join Hempsons as we look to recruit a social value and inclusion advisor to join our team. This is a brand-new role for the firm and is critical to delivering the firm’s strategic social value programme and our Living Our Values (LOV) programmes. This role will be responsible for working alongside different practice groups across the firm to co-ordinate our diversity and inclusion practices.
This role will sit within our HR team reporting to the head of HR but working closely with the wider HR, recruitment, client services and quality and risk teams. The role can be based in any of Hempsons’ offices.
Hempsons has a hybrid working environment, so you will have the flexibility to come into the office and work from home.
**Responsibilities**
**The nature of this role means that the social value and inclusion advisor will need to collaborate with heads of department, partners across the firm and other key stakeholders to evolve and then deliver the various strands of the firm’s strategically important social value and LOV programmes. The firm is determined to maintain its position as a rewarding and positive place to work and our LOV initiative is a key aspect of this. The LOV programme encompasses various strands including community engagement, health and wellbeing, environment and equality diversity and inclusion. Alongside this the social value programme delivers on the NHS’ social value priorities of wellbeing, tackling economic inequality, fighting climate change, equal opportunity, and COVID-19 recovery. A key priority for this role will be to ensure these programmes knit together to form a coherent whole.
- Assist with the development and implementation of the firm's social value, inclusion, and LOV initiatives.
- Support and coordinate the delivery of a range of activities within these programmes including the mental health at work commitment and enhanced standards for mental health, the firm’s carbon reduction programme and ensuring the absence of modern slavery within the firm’s supply chain.
- Actively set objectives to help drive forward our initiatives and monitor progress made by gathering data from various sources both internally and externally.
- Work closely with colleagues in the client services team to create content for tender submissions covering social value.
- Promote the completion and collection of diversity data and provide analysis to help identify areas for improvement.
- Answer internal queries from colleagues and arising from inclusion events.
- Work closely with our internal groups to support them in developing events and campaigns, and develop internal initiatives that promote social value both internally and externally.
- Be a champion for ED&I and support the firm’s ambitions to be an inclusive employer, and lead on projects alongside colleagues in our quality and risk team in relation to any accreditations and awards.
- Develop and deliver training programmes across the firm.
- Collaborate with external organisations to develop partnerships and encourage best practice.
- Take part in regular networking groups to promote the Hempsons brand.
- Keep up to date with emerging trends, legislation and competitor initiatives that will allow us to remain competitive.
- Draft and publish content, including but not limited to, articles and social media for both our external and internal audiences.
- Promote all activities in this area and work alongside our client services team to ensure we are utilising all channels to do so, including our website and social media.
**The team**
**The HR team is responsible for the full range of HR services to the firm (c. 200 staff), including recruitment and resourcing, learning and development, reward and benefits, employee engagement and employee relations. The HR team consists of a head of HR in London, two HR managers (HRMs) in each of the Harrogate and Manchester offices, a talent acquisition manager, emerging talent advisor (vacancy) and HR assistant in Manchester.
**Person specification**
- A passion for equality, diversity and social value.
- The ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders across the firm.
- Experience of managing successful ED&I initiatives.
- 2-3 years of experience in ED&I, ideally within a legal services or professional services environment.
