You should possess excellent organisational skills and be used to working with senior colleagues in a complex, busy environment. Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as is familiarity and expertise in using Microsoft IT packages. Knowledge and ability to use PAS is preferred, as well being a proficient audio and copy typist.

You must have experience of dealing with telephone enquiries and a professional telephone manner. You must be able to adapt and prioritise your workload and have the ability to work on you own initiative. You will need to be able to demonstrate exceptional skills in customer care, ensuring all matters relating to your work are dealt with in a sensitive and timely manner.

It is essential the post holder understands and complies with the need for confidentiality and integrity, whilst maintaining a professional attitude to work.

Work within the administrative team in order to provide a comprehensive medical secretarial and/or secretarial service for the Cellular Pathology department.

Undergo formal internal training and assessment programmes. The post holder will be required to support and sustain the disciplines practice, reviewing and implementing agreed administrative protocols, processes and procedures in line with service needs.

The post holder must be able to communicate sensitively and effectively with a wide range of people including patients, medical staff and colleagues. They will support and administer processes to sustain the disciplines practice through administrative protocols, processes and procedures in line with service needs. The post holder may be required to cover for colleagues during absence when necessary.
