We are seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Trading Standards Professional to provide a full range of Trading Standards Functions, including the undertaking of criminal investigations for serious breaches of Trading Standards legislation.

Your next role

Ideally the applicant will hold a DCA/DTS or a relevant Consumer Protection Degree (or equivalent qualifications) and will also have significant experience working within the Trading Standards profession.

We are a small, busy and friendly team working within the Council’s Regulatory Services department, which includes Licensing; Building Control; and Planning Enforcement.

You will be required to be self-motivated with good time management skills in order to manage and prioritise your workload. You will possess excellent people skills allied with the proven ability to listen, explain, negotiate and influence. You will have a track record of good performance and will be able to work flexibly.

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).

A basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required for this position.
