We are looking for a motivated operations professional to join our Anglia Operations team as an Investigations Specialist. You will be responsible for providing clear direction and support to prepare and manage human resource and safety investigations to support continuous safety and performance improvement. It will be your job to identify trends and risks, implement corrective actions and work with the Senior Leadership Team to identify best practice (within Rail and the wider transport industry) and practices to implement across the route to support continuous improvement.

**our responsibilities will include**:

- Undertaking and producing investigations to professional standards through identifying immediate, root and underlying causes, delivering reports of a high standard, and create a robust set of recommendations to present for the business and to comply with Network Rail policies, procedures, and standards.
- Providing specialist advice to route based designated competent persons and investigators to promote continuous improvements in the standard of investigation processes, report quality, and sharing of best practice.
- Establishing constructive working relationships with external organisations, including other Railway Group Members to share best practice and findings in order to improve the quality of industry investigations and assist in mitigating the risk of route accident and safety incidents.
- Providing support to colleagues undertaking local accident or incident investigations to deliver investigations in a timely manner and to an excellent standard.
- Providing support to colleagues tasked with implementing recommendations to ensure they are followed through, implement lessons learnt and best practice to assess the benefit to Network Rail to continuously improve safety and performance on the route.
- Reviewing and evaluating the full ranges of reports and emerging data from the route to assess the performance of the assigned assurance processes.
- Producing specific reviews and reports from emerging trends, audits and investigation findings, drawing out recommendations in order to support continuous safety and performance improvements.
- Complying with fair culture procedures to align with Network Rail policy.
- Monitoring and reporting the progress and effectiveness of improvement initiatives to internal and external industry stakeholders to ensure best practice is shared and continuous improvement opportunities are implemented.

**About the role (External)**:
**We are looking for someone who can demonstrate the following**:

- Good knowledge of railway operations, safety and environmental management
- Good knowledge of health and safety legislation
- Good knowledge of the disciplinary and grievance process
- Good knowledge of standards/procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to present information effectively and appropriately
- Logical thinker, with good analytical skills
- Ability to gain and maintain required lead investigations competence
- Ability to gain the RAIB agent accreditation

**Whilst it’s not essential, we would love it if you had**:

- Experience in one or more continuous improvement methodology (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma)
- Good knowledge of railway infrastructure procedures
- I.T skills in creating documents and presenting data
- Ability to gain associated membership of a professional institute for the industry (such as the IRO).
