This post is ideal for either an FY3 level doctor (or above) or a current trainee looking for an Out of Programme (OOPE) opportunity.

This is a post based in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at NUH and works closely alongside the NUH Undergraduate Medical Education Department (UMED). The post will offer a unique combination of teaching within the QMC and City Campus and the HEE fellowship project looking at the delivery of inter-professional training between undergraduate medical students and midwifery students.

Main duties of the job

**HEE fellowship (40%)**

The first aim of this project would be to map out common curricular components from the undergraduate medical education curriculum based on the GMC MLA curriculum and the midwifery undergraduate curriculum.

Secondly, the project would aim to develop interactive truly multi-professional teaching and training sessions around common curriculum components that would address the learning needs of both groups within the session.

Thirdly, the project would look at developing teaching around generic issues of culture, patient choice and safety evaluation.

Finally, working with Prof Claire Sharpe Dean of Education at Nottingham University Medical School and the Lead for Midwifery training at Nottingham University the project would aim to develop a tool for the evaluation of joint training initiatives focussing on both the experience but also on the effectiveness of learning for both groups.

**Teaching (60%)**

The post holder will be responsible for the development and teaching to Advanced Clinical Practice (AP) Phase 1 Obstetrics and Gynaecology medical students as they rotate through their 6-week placement at NUH. They will also have input alongside other Clinical Teaching Fellows with the Year 1 & 2 Early Clinical Experience Course and support other assessments and patient workshops within NUH.

Working for our organisation

NUH Vision:

- **Patients** - We will ensure our patients receive consistently high quality, safe care with outstanding outcomes and experience
- **People**:

- **Potential** - We will deliver world-class research and education and transform health through innovation

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

**HEE fellowship (40%)**

Genuine joint training of midwives and doctors has been a key recommendation from both the Okenden and Kirkup reviews. There is a need to engender a common culture and for midwives and doctors to meaningfully train together. This is also an opportunity to develop a pilot for true inter-professional learning.
