We are a preschool in Ashton-Under-Lyne Tameside. We have two rooms one for 2-3 year olds and the other for 3-4 year olds. We offer good quality childcare and all staff are highly qualified.

**Job description**

**Job Role**:
The post holder will support the Manager and Deputy Managers to ensure the pre-school provides high quality childcare with a positive, **safe and happy environment that works within the pre-school policies** and procedures at all times. The post holder will help to develop the planning of stimulating play activities along the side the children’s interest and learning that will aim to support the areas of learning and play principles. The post holder will ensure the provisions practice will comply with the Early Years Foundation Stage Welfare Requirements. In the absence of the Manager the post holder will be responsible to the Deputy Manager.

**Responsibilities and Duties**:
To provide quality childcare by:

- Contributing to and implementing the settings policies and procedures.
- Ensuring the setting is always welcoming and stimulating.
- Follow all guidelines and policies of Covid 19 and other variants.
- Assisting in the planning, preparing and facilitating of the activities.
- Listening to and encouraging children’s inclusion in all aspects of the service, this will in turn value different abilities, ethnic backgrounds and circumstances.
- Be a part of organising the resources prior to children’s arrival that supports opportunities to reinforce the play principles and the EYFS, to then enable children to be safely involved in the setting-up of their planned areas of play.
- At the end of the session ensure a safe tidy-up routine is used. Involving and encouraging the children to help to tidy-up and to reward with praise.
- Organising the food at snack times with awareness to allergies and cultural/religious dietary needs.
- To look at ways to encourage children to help with selection, preparation and clearing away of healthy snacks and drinks.
- Ensuring appropriate supervision of the children is maintained; in discussion with the Manager/Deputy Manager.
- Providing children with appropriate developmental risk-taking opportunities and challenge within the play environment and always to risk assess this.
- Maintaining good communication links between parents, children, managers and other partners involved in the child’s life.
- Attending relevant training courses as required, e.g. Safeguarding, EYFS, Health & Safety etc. And maintain their validity.
- Pro-actively participating in staff meetings, supervisions and appraisals.

**Health and Safety**:

- To ensure a safe environment for all children and adults using the setting, including good hygiene standards and safety procedures including the use of quality equipment that is complete and safe.
- To deal with accidents and emergencies according to the policy.
- To regularly carry out adult and child friendly risk assessments encouraging children to take part.
- To work to policy and procedures when raising concerns about children.

**Administration**:

- To assist with administration as directed by the setting Manager/Deputy.
- To keep accurate notes of any changes in a child’s attendance pattern or behaviour and inform the Manager/Deputy.
- To carry our regular head counts to account for ALL children.
- To record accidents/incidents in the designated files and reflect on practice to minimise this.

**Working in Partnership**:

- To build and maintain positive, respectful and professional relationships with parents/carers colleagues and other complimentary services to the children attending the setting.
- To encourage supportive parental involvement to help maintain consistency of care in the setting.
- To maintain excellent communication channels to ensure all partners and children are fully informed of the settings services and support structures.
- To develop and sustain positive professional relationships with the local community, including links with schools.
- To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families, and staff in line with the confidentiality policy.

**Other**:

- To assist in promoting the setting within the local area.
- To attend relevant meetings and training as directed.
- To adhere to any other duties requested by the Manager/Deputy that is of a reasonable nature.
