Applications are invited for a graduate research assistant position (0.6fte) on the mixed-methods evaluations of suicide prevention interventions being implemented within community settings. These include the criminal justice system, primary care and third sector community organisations.

The three study’s aim to: 1) explore the barriers and facilitators of the utility of a the Connecting with People Suicide Awareness and Suicide Response for Primary Care (SASRPC) Module and of implementing SAFETool (an assessment and safety planning framework) within primary care settings; 2) gain the views and experiences of people attending the community based suicide prevention course; and, 3) understand the views and experiences of people delivering a suicide prevention intervention within the criminal justice system and the outcome data for those utilising the intervention. Work will involve liaising with community partners and health professionals, administering and analysing survey data, and conducting and analysing interviews with health and social care professionals. You will be based in the School of Psychology, with mentoring and supervision provided by Dr Saini.

You should hold a BSc in Psychology or a related field. You will be used to working independently and have excellent organisation skills. Previous experience in conducting research and collecting and analysing quantitative and qualitative data (using SPSS and NVivo), within and beyond undergraduate qualifications, will be an advantage. Experience conducting research in the field of suicide prevention and mental health services with vulnerable populations will also be advantageous. Excellent computer and communication skills are essential.
