**Overall Job Purpose**

Manage and develop the resources of the Cumberland Agricultural Society to ensure that the Cumberland County Show, and any other society activities, take place in an efficient, timely, legal and cost effective manner.

**Key Objectives**
- Work involves developing, obtaining, processing and support sponsorship, trade bookings, exhibitor entries and advertisers for the Cumberland Show.
- Work with committee members to promote the show in order to increase attendance.
- Work with committee members to undertake booking of all resources needed to operate the show, and other related activities.
- Plan, monitor and co-ordinate activities leading up to show day.
- Produce Society publications.
- Ensure all regulations are complied with and liaise with appropriate bodies including DEFRA, Trading Standards office, H&S bodies, Environmental Health office, and premises license authority.
- Manage the day to day finances of the society in a cost effective manner, working with the society treasurer to control a budget.
- Receive income, pay invoices, prepare VAT returns, monitor payroll activities, and produce accounting records for preparation of annual accounts and for other reporting to society officers and committees.
- Manage and develop membership of the society, and associated activities.
- Set up and attend Society Council meetings and sub committee meetings, producing agendas and accurate records for these, and undertaking allocated tasks.
- Attend meetings as required with organisations that the society has dealings with, or is a member of.
- Liaise and co-ordinate with secretaries of each section of the show.
- Develop and maintain the society’s website, and on-line presence.
- Keep society records and documentation.
- Act as the main contact for the Cumberland Agricultural Society and the Cumberland Show.

**Other Duties - **The duties and responsibilities in this role profile are not exhaustive. The post holder may be required to undertake other duties that may be required from time to time within the general scope of the post. Duties and responsibilities outside the general scope of this grade of post will be mutually agreed with the post holder.

**Role Details**:
**Hours of Work - **Approximately 1,200 hours per year. The hours are not evenly spread through the year, and build to a considerable weekly commitment during the final weeks prior to the Cumberland Show (currently held in June). Work will involve evenings and weekends, and requires flexibility.

**Location of Work - **Home based, but with travel around Carlisle where most meetings are held.

**Salary - **By negotiation, depending on skills and experience.

- Ability to write clearly, logically, and succinctly;
- Proven oral communication skills;
- Willingness to take on and embrace new challenges to improve the Cumberland Show and the “customer” experiences of businesses dealing with Cumberland Agricultural Society;
- Flexible and adaptable approach to working hours and job tasks.
