We wish to recruit a translator to support our Welsh Language Services at the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust.

You must have significant experience in translating and proof-reading from English to Welsh and vice versa, ideally in the health & social care sector.

You must have an excellent command of grammar in both languages and you will have a degree in the Welsh language or other languages and/or linguistics.

You will have knowledge and understanding of using translation memory software and term-bases and will be able to translate a minimum of between 2,500 to 3,500 words per working day.

We have offices in Cwmbran, Swansea and St Asaph. We also offer hybrid working.

The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this role.

To be part of the Corporate Governance Team, providing a translation service for the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust (WAST) as to enable the Organisation to implement the principle that it will treat Welsh and English on an equal basis in accordance with the Welsh Language Act 1993, Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011.

The post holder will work closely with the Trust’s Welsh Language Services Manager and service managers to support service improvement and ensure that the Welsh language is a key consideration in all of the Trust’s business.

This role will contribute to ensuring that the Trust complies with the Welsh Language Standards Regulations (2011), thereby helping to ensure that bilingual services are offered to service users and patients.

The post holder will help to deliver a comprehensive Welsh language service in line with Trust’s Welsh language policies and procedures and the Welsh Language Standards.
