The Department of Mathematics is seeking an enthusiastic individual to shape all aspects of the student experience. The job is an exciting opportunity to work with a highly motivated cohort of undergraduates enrolled on one of the UK’s leading mathematics programmes, alongside a friendly, dedicated team of academics and professional services staff.

As Student Liaison Officer, you will take responsibility for the student experience, working in partnership with student representatives. You will organize cohort-building activities and work with specialist College services to ensure the provision of training, such as careers advice and skills workshops. Working proactively, you will identify ways in which the student experience can be improved, proposing and leading strategic projects to develop the programme.

You will be an accessible point of contact for students and staff, as well as a trusted source of advice. Working with the Senior Tutor, you will organize and monitor the undergraduate tutorial system. You will provide general wellbeing advice to students, signposting those with individual needs to specialist services at College level.

**Duties and responsibilities**:

- Ensure the clear and timely communication of organisational information to all undergraduate students.
- Organise, monitor, and develop the undergraduate tutorial system, working with the Senior Tutor and Year Tutors.
- Provide general wellbeing support to students and signposting to appropriate Faculty and College-level services.
- Work with College services and external providers to organise training activities to support new students with the transition to university life, e.g., active bystander training.
- Promote and organize activities to support a fair and inclusive learning environment.
- Propose and lead strategic projects for innovation in education and the student experience.

**Essential requirements**:

- A degree in a STEM discipline or an equivalent level of professional qualifications and experience that demonstrate an understanding of the educational aims of a STEM-focused higher education institution.
- Experience in a relevant student-facing role in a university or other educational setting.
- A successful track record of undertaking substantial administrative roles.
- Proven leadership and management skills.
- A proven record of excellence and innovation in teaching and student support.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to perform work independently, planning and prioritizing tasks as needed.
- Ability to work and deal diplomatically but assertively with a wide range of people of all levels of seniority.
- Willingness and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
- Flexible attitude towards work and willingness to undertake any necessary training.
- DBS Clearance for one-to-one work with under-18 students, or willingness to obtain such clearance.

**Further information**:
This is a full time and open ended role, and you will be based in the South Kensington Campus.
- The College is currently trialling a _Work Location Framework_ until early 2023. Hybrid working may be considered for this role and the role holder may be expected to work 60% or more of their time onsite, with 40% the minimum time spent onsite.
