**Job description**:
We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated leader who thrives on forward thinking and creative problem solving, seeking out answers to difficult challenges. The Deputy Head Regional Support Team is a key senior leader within the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) SouthEast and PFI (SERP) delivery Region, who works closely with the Head of SERP to bring their vision to life. The role is high profile and challenging and would be well suited to someone who is naturally curious, enjoys doing things differently, at ease with challenging conventional ways of thinking, and puts customer service at the forefront of everything they do.

It will provide a significant sense of achievement in delivering all crucial business support services for sophisticated multi-million-pound Facilities Management Contracts and PFI across the UK. The Regional Support Team contains the Strategic Compliance Team, Assurance Team, Cost Management Team, Business Management Team, Technical Support Team, Utilities Team, UK wide Furniture Procurement and the Administration Hub for one of DIO’s premiere locations.

It is a role with plenty of cross organisation team working and engagement with stakeholders and customers, so the postholder will need to be able to work successfully at all levels and build relationships quickly. They will be comfortable and experienced in working autonomously, on a variety of projects and where a lot of contact is virtual. A sound understanding of the business and skills in horizon scanning are critical to success, to adapt resource to meet priority business needs.

As a member of the Executive Committee the role is required to contribute to the leadership and strategic management of the estate and the Infrastructure portfolio, providing guidance to the DIO personnel, ensuring that DIO resources are maximised to support the operational outputs within the Region and that budgets are handled in accordance with delegated authority.

Whilst not a prerequisite, the role will benefit from prior experience in infrastructure management. However, a proven track record in operational leadership and leading a geographically dispersed team to deliver excellent results is essential.

**Main responsibilities will include**:

- Leadership and management of the Regional Support Team staff providing strategic direction to the team in order to deliver DIO outputs.
- Build an environment of strong working relationships within the team and with others across DIO, the MOD and our Contractors.
- Sets direction for business planning and support services and delivers Head SE&PFI’s vision for the Region.
- Direct resources and lead plans such that the team can efficiently deliver required outputs.
- Run the Region’s data, information and reporting for the current year and planning for future years.
- Regularly review and assess progress across the Region, taking corrective action or re-prioritise as appropriate.
- Ensure the provision of technical and compliance support to our delivery teams.
- Deliver a number of support functions to our multimillion pound infrastructure contracts including asset management, continuous improvement, collaboration and more.
- Responsible for leading risk management activities including identification, mitigation and implementation of risk activities.

Travel will be required between DIO and Military establishments around the UK.
