Reporting to the Director of Reed Environment, the Head of Business Development will be fundamental in shaping the growth of this exciting new division within Reed in Partnership.
The Head of Business Development will utilise extensive energy industry knowledge, particularly around retrofit and energy efficiency, to develop strong working relationships at senior level with organisations such as housing associations & local authorities.They will be responsible for negotiating commercial terms, establishing service level agreements and building strong partnerships whilst being the first point of contact for external partners.
**The Role**
The Head of Business Development will work closely with the RE Director to develop the division’s strategy including the 5-year plan. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a new division within a well-established and well-resourced organisation. Thisis not an exhaustive list, and they will be expected to carry out any other duties as may be specified by their manager from time to time. This profile is non-contractual.
**Key Responsibilities**:

- The Head of Business Development will work alongside the RE Director to develop a high-performance commercial operation. This will include creating a commercial B2B/B2C functionality which will be a new approach for Reed in Partnership. As such, the Headof BD will be expected to guide internal structures and identify roles needed to execute on the strategy this may include BDMs, B2B/B2C sales function, marketing and further support functions. The Head of BD’s role will therefore include:_
- Identifying and establishing relationships with potential partners to establish commercial structures around energy efficiency, net zero net zero and learning and development.
- Working with internal support functions to deliver best in class customer experience, go to market strategy and growth.
- Identifying new markets within the energy space for Reed Environment.
- Maintaining and building relationships within the industry and wider sector.
- Coaching and Performance Management of the commercial team
- Identifying and recruiting top talent
- Succession Planning for all team members

**Person Specification**
**Essential Attainments**:

- Demonstrable experience in creating successful commercial relationships.
- Excellent knowledge of Energy Efficiency & Retrofit - including understanding of processes, training requirements, and implementation.
- Knowledge & experience of other sustainable / renewable energy technologies

**Desirable Attainments**:

- Experience of bid/tender writing
- Experience of recruiting and managing a team
- Experience of working with Local Authorities or Social Housing

**Essential Criteria**:

- Strong presentation skills
- Comfortable in fast paced ‘start up’ environment.
- Can adopt an entrepreneurial approach to identifying new markets and opportunities.

**Desirable Criteria**:

- Experience in developing and implementing business/departmental strategy.
- Experience in reporting to, engaging with and developing relationships with the most senior level stakeholders, both internally and externally.
