Bookkeeper - Part Time

**Job Purpose**:
Working with the Administration team you will be responsible for systems, processes and controls required to maintain YMCA Northumberland’s financial records and operate all key financial processes.
**Key responsibilities**:
- Overseeing the day to day updating and maintenance of the charity’s financial systems using Sage Business Cloud.
- Ensuring financial records are complete and all transactions are accurately recorded.
- Effective budget control
- Ensuring restricted fund transactions are recorded appropriately and fund balances monitored so that information is accurately presented in the accounts and is available for funders when required.
- Overseeing the collection of income, ensuring that outstanding debts are followed up on a timely basis.
- Ensuring processes are in place to ensure that all liabilities are recorded completely and accurately, and payments are authorised and made efficiently via online banking.
- Completing month end tasks including bank and balance sheet reconciliations, month end journals including any prepayments and accruals.
- Liaising with the Funding Officer to allocate shared organisational costs to the appropriate projects/cost centres.
- Producing monthly (quarterly?) management accounts for senior management and trustees meeting agreed deadlines.
- Reviewing and documenting existing financial processes and procedures, and suggesting improvements to ensure a good control environment.
- Assisting in the continuing development of the finance function.
- Acting as point of contact with external payroll providers, notifying them of salaries to be paid that month.
- Processing a monthly payroll journal, ensuring that salaries are posted to the correct project accounts.
- Supporting the preparation of the organisation's statutory financial statements by providing all relevant financial information to the Independent Examiners, including the detail for the notes to the accounts, and responding to any queries.
- Completing all admin and other ad hoc tasks requested by your Line Manager

Pay: £13.00-£15.00 per hour
