Museum Assistant Apprentice

Undertake an NVQ in Customer Services

Interacting with the Museum’s visitors

Working within a team to grow and develop the business

Opportunity for permanent position for successful applicant

**About the Apprenticeship**:
Customer Service NVQ level 2 or 3 (equivalent to either GCSE’s or A Levels)

As an apprentice you’ll combine practical training in a job with study

You’ll work alongside experienced staff

Gain job-specific skills

Earn a wage and get holiday pay

Get time for study related to your role

**Apprenticeship Requirements**:
Not currently in full time education

Must undertake and complete a 12 month NVQ

Living in England

**Key activities**

1. Providing an efficient and effective service to our customers, understanding their needs and requirements and working to exceed these wherever possible.

2. Taking responsibility for the daily operations of the admissions till, retail area and museum exhibits, ensuring they are maintained and secure at all times.

3. Undertake cleaning and maintenance duties throughout the premises in line with the company policy and taking into account health and safety law.

4. Taking an active role in sales and marketing including leaflet distributions, updating social media sites and promoting of special events.

5. Assisting the Curator and Assistant Curator with the development and execution of new exhibitions, special events/functions and group tours as required.

- A desire to work within a museum environment, with an interest in tourism and the local area.

- Positive, confident, enthusiastic, committed and a flexible attitude to work.

**Skills**:

- Attainment of a GCSE English and Mathematics qualification
- Previous experience of working in a retail environment (desirable)
- Working knowledge of till systems (desirable)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Facebook and Twitter (desirable)
- Working knowledge of Wordpress, Photoshop, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube (desirable)

**Details**:

- 37.5 hours a week (including weekends and bank holidays)
- Usual hours 9am - 5pm (may be required to work out of hours for special events/functions)
- 5 weeks annual leave
- Apprenticeship NVQ (1 year)
- £5.28 per hour (Increases to minimum wage after 1 year apprenticeship)
