**The Position**

As a VAT Manager, you will be working closely with the Group Finance Director and you will be involved with all VAT compliance matters and have the opportunity to provide VAT advice across the business on all property acquisitions and disposals, both residentialand commercial.

You will be responsible for the following duties:

- Act in an advisory capacity to the business, responding to day-to-day queries and providing VAT support for business projects and the indirect tax implications with them.
- Ensure VAT risk is managed appropriately for all business transactions and make appropriate recommendations to the business and deal with special projects to make sure that new business scenarios are correctly implemented from a VAT point of view.
- Analyse and support the implementation of changes to VAT legislation including MTD, reverse charge for building and construction services and blocked goods scheme.
- Carry out ad-hoc projects to review selected business activities and processes to manage VAT risks.
- Delivering VAT reporting, ensuring VAT compliance and identifying risk, as well as minimising VAT liabilities and compliance issues.
- Ensure all month end processes are actioned on a timely basis including review of all sales invoices raised and contractor certificates/invoices processed through sub-contractor ledger.
- Liaise with and manage the working relationship with HM Revenue & Customs during routine audits and ad hoc enquiries.
- Inputting into the group's tax strategy.
- Ensure all permanent VAT information is kept up to date. This includes maintenance of options to tax, notifying HMRC of name changes, company activity changes, dealing with inclusion and removal of companies from VAT groups, dealing with deregistrationand requesting move from quarterly to monthly returns.
- Monitoring and ensuring the VAT regulations and VAT legislation is adhered to across the finance transaction teams, carrying out periodic review and updates of VAT processes and produce manuals/VAT process notes for the relevant teams.
- Provide VAT training to construction, residential, legal and acquisitions teams and communicate change in practice to ensure VAT is considered at each stage of the property transaction cycle.

**The Person**
- Good communication skills, with the ability to present ideas in a clear format, and professional manner, sometimes to non-financial people.
- Must have previous experience in advising a business in VAT matters, with experience working in the capacity of a VAT Manager.
- Must have a proven track record in meeting tax compliance obligations and supporting a wide range of stakeholders in tax advisory matters.
- Working knowledge of the CIS Scheme would be beneficial.
- Experience working within the real estate and construction industry is desirable.
