Mitie has a great opportunity for an experienced **Security Officer** in **Manchester**. You will be contracted to **24 hours a week** with a pay rate of **£12.00 per hour**. You will report to the sites Security Shift Manager. This is a mobile role, so a driving licence is required. The regular shift pattern is 22:00 - 06:00 on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. With another officer, you will patrol parts of Manchester tasked with identifying and reducing anti-social behaviour, primarily noise nuisance, on behalf of our clients.

In September and June there are several weeks where you will be required to work up to 7 days.

There are no patrols during client holidy periods, so you will be allocated shifts on other parts of the contract during this time.

**Main Duties**
- As the first point of contact to all customers and clients, the Security Officer must be geographically aware of their local surroundings.
- There will be long periods of patrolling in all weather conditions, so someone who is not phased by working in an outdoor environment is desirable.
- The Security Officer must spot and stop all suspicious sightings or potential criminal activity and retain full control until the arrival of emergency services.
- Report to the Security Shift Manager - record, report and escalate all sightings and arrests on a regular basis.
- The Security Officer will demonstrate their character as determined, trustworthy, attentive and approachable at all times when welcoming clients and customers.
- The Security Officer will need to be a team player with an enthusiastic attitude.
- The Security Officer should be able to work on own initiative.
- Excellent communication skills is essential (written and verbal).
- Retail Security experience is preferred but not essential.
- Flexible approach to work to suit the business needs.
- Calm under pressure.
- Understand the Health and Safety at Work Act, relevant Criminal, Civil Law and Police and Criminal Evidence Act.
